Quick start
A checklist for first launching the bot, from logging in to the first conversation.
Five steps stand between you and your first conversation handled by the bot. The whole path takes anywhere from a quarter of an hour to an hour, depending on how much content you want to upload.
1. Configure the bot's brand and tone
Open Bot settings and fill in two sections:
- Brand: your site's address and a short description of what you do. This helps the bot phrase answers in the right context.
- Messages: the text of the first message in the chat and one of three styles of speaking (casual, informal, professional).
You'll find details in the articles Bot configuration, Brand and Bot configuration, Messages.
2. Build your knowledge base
The bot needs to know what to tell customers. The knowledge base is a collection of articles describing your offer, terms and conditions, procedures, FAQs, and anything a customer might want to know. In the Documentation tab you have two ways to add content:
- Import Markdown files from an existing knowledge base.
- Write articles manually in the Fibly editor.
If you'd like us to create the first version of your knowledge base based on your site's content, write to us at kontakt@fibly.pl. We'll do it for you and move the finished articles into the dashboard.
More in the Knowledge base section.
3. Enable human support
In Bot settings, under Human support, turn on conversation takeover and provide the email address where notifications about unhandled queries should go. The default waiting time is 15 minutes, and you can adjust it.
Details: Bot configuration, Human support.
4. Verify your domain
The Fibly widget won't start working on your site until you confirm that you own the domain. In the dashboard, under Settings, Domains, add your site's address and follow the instructions.
A full description of the process: Domain verification.
5. Embed the widget on your site
How you embed the widget depends on the platform that hosts your site. On some CMSes you paste in an HTML code snippet; on others you just fill in a form in the settings. Choose the instructions for your platform:
After completing the steps in the guide and verifying your domain, open your site. The chat button will appear in the bottom-right corner.
6. Check that everything works
Open your site in incognito mode and send the bot a few questions: ones that do have an answer in the knowledge base, and ones that don't. In the dashboard, under Conversations, you'll see the recorded dialogues and understand what's worth improving.
