Notification sound

How to choose the audio cue the widget plays for the customer when new messages arrive.

When the bot or an agent sends a message while the chat window is collapsed, the widget can play a short sound to get the customer's attention.

Available presets

In the Notification sound field, choose one of four options:

  • None: no sound. Notifications are visual only (a red dot on the collapsed button).
  • Soft: a short, subtle cue. The least intrusive option and a good starting point.
  • Piano: a two-note piano chord. More noticeable, but still calm.
  • Bell: a classic "ding". The most attention-grabbing option, useful when you want the customer to come back quickly to a conversation they've started.

Sound preview

Next to each option there is a button with a speaker icon that lets you listen to the sound before saving your changes.

What this setting covers

This setting controls only the sound on the customer's side, in their browser, when the widget is collapsed. It is separate from the sounds an agent hears in the Fibly dashboard while handling conversations.

What's next

If you want to temporarily disable the whole widget (for example during maintenance), see the article Enabling and disabling the widget.
